We created Landmark Events to encourage and edify families by preserving providential history and facilitating events that prepositionally address the ethical issues of our time. Historian David McCullough suggested that trying to understand the future without learning from the past is like trying to plant cut flowers. All our knowledge, our beliefs, our world-view, our identity, and those of the generations to come are rooted in the verities of history, which are based, in turn, on the infallible and inerrant historical truths of the revealed Word of God. Without history—religion and philosophy, the arts and sciences, mathematics, language, music and literature have no meaning. Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Douglas Southall Freeman rightly observed that “history is the great lamp that illumines every other study; without it, we grope in the dark.” Every person, event, and nation is a product of the past and we cannot escape that fact. See full article here. At Landmark Events we are passionate about teaching history to the next generation. When our children, and we ourselves, study true history they will develop a sense of context, understanding that they are not a random occurrence amidst a sea of random occurrences, but uniquely placed in time. The […]
You’ve probably seen pictures of Noah’s Ark in children’s books, complete with giraffe heads sticking out the top. But the real Noah’s Ark, the one described in the Bible, was huge. It was amazingly seaworthy—a ship that kept the occupants safe during a year-long worldwide flood. Prepare to be blown away as you explore the life-sized reconstruction of Noah’s Ark. The Ark Encounter is a one-of-a-kind, historically themed attraction. In an entertaining, educational, and immersive way, it presents a number of historical events centered on Noah’s Ark as recorded in the Bible. As the largest timber-frame structure in the US, the 510-foot-long full-size Ark is designed to be family-oriented, historically authentic, and environmentally friendly. Additional phases will be added over the years. The Ark Encounter, a sister attraction of the popular Creation Museum, is a Christian evangelistic outreach intended to bring the Ark of Noah’s day to life. Located in Williamstown, Kentucky (south of Cincinnati and 40 miles from the Creation Museum), the Ark will equip visitors to understand the reality of the events that are recorded in the book of Genesis: The global Flood did happen as an act of God’s judgment. Noah and his family really did build a […]
Bring the family for a walk through biblical history at the state-of-the-art Creation Museum. The state-of-the-art 75,000-square-foot museum brings the pages of the Bible to life, casting its characters and animals in dynamic form and placing them in familiar settings. Adam and Eve live in the Garden of Eden. Children play and dinosaurs roam near Eden’s Rivers. The serpent coils cunningly in the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. Majestic murals, great masterpieces brimming with pulsating colors and details, provide a backdrop for many of the settings. The area within the museum has been divided into unusually configured spaces that allow for personal interaction with each of the 160 exhibits. Several parts of the museum, including the stunning forty-foot high portico with its cliff wall and floor-to-ceiling glass windows, flaunt open spaces and remarkable designs. Walk through the Garden of Eden. See the scaffolding, smell the freshly-cut timbers in the busy work site of Noah’s Ark. Dig up dinosaur bones—or come face to face with T. Rex. The themes of the exhibits resound in the theater presentations: Men in White, Six Days of Creation, and The Last Adam. Our Special Effects Theater, complete with rumbling seats and […]
