Bible translation is about giving people the best resource for knowing God—in a language that speaks to their minds and hearts. Translation impacts people in many ways, and it looks different for every community.
JAARS is a multidisciplinary team of problem-solvers who are committed to the belief—and the vision—that people’s lives and communities are transformed as they experience God’s Word in their own language.
Come see firsthand what it takes to support Bible translation. We offer 2-hour tours most weekdays, by appointment, and also the option of spending a whole day at our headquarters! Ride in a helicopter or a five-seat plane. …Or pile into a four-wheel drive and enjoy our off-road course. Either way, you’ll get a taste of how Bible translators reach remote villages. See how people get Internet in the rainforest. Record your voice into the JESUS film. Try your hand at Bible translation or computer repair. Check out a boat, a rugged MP3 player, or a solar power setup. Over the course of a JAARS Day, you’ll get an up-close look at Bible translation—and why it relies on practical support like boats, 4WDs, and software.
Make a Day of It: Pack a picnic, or buy lunch here. Drop by historic downtown Waxhaw for coffee, antique shopping, or a walking tour. Hike or camp at Cane Creek Park or Andrew Jackson State Park. You’re also welcome to stay in our on-site housing.
Want to bring your class, club, or church group? We’ll give you a guided tour. Just contact us at least a few days in advance.
